"Nourishing Nostalgia: Crafting Authentic Ragi Mudde in Your Kitchen"

Ragi mudde is a traditional South Indian dish made from finger millet flour, also known as ragi flour. It is a nutritious and filling food item. Here's a simple recipe to make ragi mudde at home:

Ingredients:

  • Ragi flour (finger millet flour): 1 cup
  • Water: 3 cups
  • Salt: 1/2 teaspoon (adjust to taste)

Instructions:

  1. In a large pot or saucepan, bring water to a boil.

  2. In a separate bowl, mix the ragi flour with a little water to form a smooth paste without any lumps. Ensure that the paste is free of lumps for a smooth mudde.

  3. Once the water in the pot comes to a rolling boil, reduce the heat to low and slowly add the ragi paste to the boiling water, stirring continuously to avoid the formation of lumps.

  4. Cook the mixture on low heat, stirring constantly, until the ragi mixture thickens and forms a smooth consistency. This process may take around 8-10 minutes.

  5. Add salt to the mixture and continue stirring for another 2-3 minutes to ensure that the ragi mudde is well-cooked.

  6. Once the mixture is well-cooked and has a thick consistency, turn off the heat and allow it to cool slightly for a minute or two.

  7. Wet your hands with water to prevent sticking, and take a small portion of the ragi mixture. Shape it into a round ball or mudde using your hands. Repeat this process with the remaining mixture.

  8. Serve the ragi mudde hot with sambar, rasam, or any curry of your choice.

Note: Ragi mudde is traditionally eaten with sambar or curries, as it provides a nutritious and wholesome meal. It is typically consumed by dipping the mudde into the accompanying dish.

Enjoy your homemade ragi mudde, a healthy and satisfying dish!
